So today I traveled with five other girls from GYE to the Galapagos Island of Baltra. We had a lot of fun and could not stop joking around, we clicked very well and I’m super optimistic about the trip and my companions. We had to wait for the other 9 students to join us. Waiting around we saw our first Galapagueño creature, a land iguana! It was beautiful, and just sat there when we first got out of the airport. After collecting our bags we hopped onto a boat to take us to Santa Cruz. On this little boat ride we saw BEAUTIFUL waters, frigate birds soaring through the sky, and a sea lion casually laying on a buoy. Afterwards we gathered our bags and met our tour guide, Steve, that took us through the “garua” (light misty rain) and around the mountains to reach Puerto Ayora’s hotel, “Verde Azul.” We only dropped off our bags, then ran off to the Darwin Breeding Center for Tortoises. The tortoises look like they no longer want to live on the planet… it’s pretty funny. Afterwards, we went to dinner then we all walked around Santa Cruz and saw a Sea Lion fishing off the dock, as well as little sharks lurking around.
I’ll post pictures separately so that my internet doesn’t crash the internet in the Galapagos.
